The company have announced the launch of the Fantom EX, which replace the current flagship workstation models and deliver all of the new features out of the box.
Roland is rolling out three new Fantom EX models to replace the current line-up: the Fantom 6 EX, 7 EX, and 8 EX, offering 61-, 76-, and 88-note versions respectively. Like their predecessors, the 6 EX and 7 EX feature semi-weighted synth-action keybeds, while the 8 EX sports a weighted hammer-action version. All are powered by custom processors and packed with a wide range of effects, including fresh reverbs, an updated master effects section, and an analogue filter for extra character.

The EX series also boasts the most extensive sound engine collection in the range so far, featuring Roland’s ACB, ZEN-Core, V-Piano, SuperNATURAL, and Virtual ToneWheel technologies. Each comes preloaded with 11 sound expansions—covering classics like the Jupiter-8, SH-101, and Juno-106, plus instruments such as the SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 3—with even more available through Roland Cloud.
There’s also a little pouch to store the rollerballs, and a card with different inspirations as to how to blend them on your skin – but it’s foolproof. You can’t make a mess if you mix them all up.
